Cover Photo Retouching and Digital Editing

Is your perfect cover photo not quite as perfect as you’d like? Maybe the photographer didn’t clean up flyaway hairs, unsightly glare, or blemishes. Maybe there are some background objects or image elements you’d like to eliminate? A patterned or challenging background you’d like to extend? I can fix most of the common stock-art oopses that can spoil the clean look of your cover.

In the stock art that would become the focal point of The Forest Queen premade book cover design, the photo was striking and ideal for the concept I’d envisioned for the cover. Unfortunately, the original image was marred by distracting stray hairs and a fold of skin at the collar that would detract from the impact of the final cover. So I removed hairs over the model’s face and eye, streamlined the curl over her forehead, plus cleaned up the jawline.

For the image I used in the Belle’s Rose cover, there were a couple of issues requiring digital editing before it could make a strong cover. First, the fussy multitude of candles had to go. This also involved blending the new open spaces into the existing cobweb-covered background. Then, the bustle of the model’s dress had to be smoothed out to make a less distracting backdrop for the title.
